What are kneeling chairs
The amount of leg movement possible in this sitting position is a key feature of the Sit/Kneel Chairs design, and it depends on the seat being the correct distance from the knee pad. It is important for your comfort as you sit, and also for the benefit of your circulation that the chair does not immobilize you.
To ensure that the chair fits, we make five different sized Sit/Kneel Chairs depending on users leg length. Generally people of height less than 5 feet 2 inches prefer the smaller chair, from 52 to 57 the medium size, from 58 to 511 the Medium/Large, from 511 to 63 the Large and people of 6 feet 3 inches and taller prefer the extra large. If your height is just on the cusp between two different sizes, you should choose the size smaller if you are shorter in the legs and long in the back or, the larger if you have a relatively short back and long legs.
Each chair is adjustable with 3 settings for people with different thigh lengths to enable leg mobility. Also this allows changes to seat height for working at different levels. .The highest setting is generally better for people with shorter legs, who benefit from being lifted up more, and the lowest setting for taller people who do not need the extra height so much. For the Medium size chair, seat height adjusts from 500mm (19 ½ inches) on the low setting( this is about the same as a normal dining chair), to 600mm (23 ½ inches) on the high setting. The Small chair is about Ύ inch lower. For the Larger size chair on the low setting the seat is approx. 550mm (21 ½ inches) above the floor and on the high setting this rises to 650mm (approx 25 ½ inches).
Castors are optional and may be fitted to either size chair for a small extra cost. They provide some degree of mobility and add approx.1½ inches to the height of the chair. In a work situation they are useful, but for home use most people prefer not to have them, valuing the extra stability.
The Seat and Knee pads are made from high density fire retardant foam with a softer surface wrap to be kind to your skin.
The Chairs are available with a choice of high quality fire retardant - treated upholstery fabrics. If none of the ones we have available are suitable, we can use the customers own cloth (this should of course be fire retardant treated). If you wish to use your own material please let us know.
Sit / Kneel Chairs fold flat for easy portability or storage. Nothing needs to be unscrewed or dismantled to do this.
They are designed for use at work or at home and are ideal for use at Computer workstations or with a Laptop as well as for craft and hobby use.
Available in 2 types: 1 The Basic Chair, or 2 the Bracket Chair which allows fitting of attached, adjustable Table/Drawing Board, Tapestry Frame or Quilting Hoop.
